Mrs. Martha Frances Smith, 88, died Monday at Hospice House in Monroe. Born June 18, 1929 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Ellis Jones and Ruby Collins Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Smith, and siblings, J.C. Jones, Harold Jones and Doris Baird, one great grandchild, Clay Sellers.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Smith will be held 1 PM Wednesday at the Philadelphia Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 at the church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a son Kendall Smith and his wife Jean of LaGrange, NC; daughter, Susan Martin and her husband Eddie of Marshville; brother Robert Jones of Monroe; sister, Lorraine McClellan of Monroe; grandchildren, Jennifer Vaughn and her husband Spence, Shannon Logan and her husband Chris, Jason Martin and his wife Jessica, Courtney Smith and Lane Smith and great grandchildren, Addison Vaughn, Hannah Sellers, Colin Vaughn, Ava Logan, River Martin, Callie Martin and Harrison Logan; step grandchildren, Maddison White and Mason Logan.
