Obituary

James Marvin Hill, 92 of Marshville, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born September 3rd, 1922 to the late Edgar Bright and Cora Tarlton Hill.
Marvin is survived by three daughters, Mae Ellen Little and husband Ken, Carol Reavis and husband Mike, and Libby Evans and husband David. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren whom he adored and was affectionately known as DeDah. His grandchildren are Jason Little and wife Heather, Melissa Whitson and husband Scott, Jamie Reavis and wife Anna and Eric Evans. Marvin's great-grandchildren are Eli Whitson, Harper Whitson, Emory Little and Bryson Little. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Adelaide S. Hill and his siblings Charlie Hill, Clyde Hill, Floyd Hill, Everette Hill, Connie Walker, Mary Jo Porter and Sarah Harmon.
Marvin was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Marshville where he served as Deacon, usher, chairlift operator and Sunday School secretary. He retired from the US Postal Service as a rural letter carrier after 33 years. He served in the US Army where he was a POW and a Purple Heart recipient. This set his appreciation for life, always being positive and able to handle any adversity. Marvin's life revolved around his strong devotion and loyalty to his church, family and community.

A service to celebrate Marvin's life will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 3 pm at First Baptist Church of Marshville, 1636 Old Hwy 74, Marshville, NC. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 on Sunday prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow in the Marshville City Cemetery.
