Mrs. Mary Neal Smith Furr, 79, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Brookdale Memory Care in Monroe. Born February 17, 1947, in Union County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Craven Smith and Mary Linday Meggs Smith.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Neal will be 3 PM Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 – 2:45 in the church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 61 years, Lance Furr; sons, Derek Furr (Caroline) and Brian Furr (Cheryl); Samuel Furr (Sari), Jacob Furr (Sara), Preston Furr (Megan), Clayton Furr; a great grandchild, Eloise Bee; siblings, Brady Smith (Ann), Marlene Love (Dennis), Wesley Smith (Angie) and Alfred Smith (Kathi).
