Melda Lynn Hamilton Lee Bassett, 86, passed away on February 25, 2024. Surviving are daughters, Lynda Lee (Clif) Hopkins, Hilton Head Island, SC, and Cheryl Lee (Ross) Duhaime, Altamonte Springs, FL, and grandchildren Jason (Kristen) Hopkins, Blake (Katie) Hopkins, Olivia, Matthew, and Valerie Duhaime. Predeceased by her parents, Lemuel Carl Hamilton, and Mary Jane Preslar Hamilton, 11 brothers and sisters, and husbands P. Wilson Lee and Wilmer W Bassett.

Educated at Brenau College. Employed as Alumnae Director of Brenau College, Gainesville, GA, and Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL, and as Associate Vice President for the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences College (IFAS) at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Morgan and Son Funeral Home with inurnment to follow in the Hamilton Cross Roads Cemetery in Marshville, NC.
