Michael Stroud, 61, of Monroe, passed away of Liver Cancer with his wife, Vaughn, at his side, on May 11, 2015. Born on October 7, 1953 in Green Cove Springs, Florida, he was a son of Joann Stroud and the late Jack Stroud. Mike was married to his high school sweetheart, Vaughn Benson on July 4, 1973, and they have been married for 41 years.

The family will have a memorial service Saturday, 16th of May at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail - East Campus, 6140 West Marshville Blvd, Marshville, NC 28103. Burial will be private.

Mike was a hardworking man who enjoyed working with his hands. He took care of many home repairs, home remodeling projects, as well as car maintenance himself. He would never hire someone for a job he could do himself! His work history includes Sears Service Center, Vann's Welding and Ornamental Works, and finishing his working career as the Managing Partner of Sonic Drive-In of Monroe.

When Mike's children were young he enjoyed coaching them in T-ball and baseball. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and relaxing at the beach with his family. Drive-In movies with Vaughn were also a favorite past time.

Mike is survived by his wife, Vaughn Stroud, of Monroe, his 3 children, Stephanie Stroud Humston, Michael Stroud Jr, and Kimberly Stroud Worsnop, his mother, Joann Stroud Smith, his brother, Scott Stroud, and his sister, Linda Stroud Brown. Mike also leaves behind 2 Granddaughters and 3 grandsons.
