Greensboro, NC - Mildred Tarlton Davis, 83 passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at Clemmons Village I in Clemmons, NC. Born December 19, 1939 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Kemp and Louise Hayes Tarlton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several of her siblings and their spouses: Bill Tarlton (Inez), Haskell Tarlton (Annette), Myrtle Carpenter (Bob) and JC Tarlton.

A longtime resident of Greensboro, NC, Mildred was the office manager at Baldwin-Garrett Co., the local International Harvester dealership where she made many friends and enjoyed helping host their annual hot dog day. She went on to be the Inventory Control Accountant for MacThrift Office Furniture. She loved to knit and would always send her guests home with a handful of homemade dish cloths; she enjoyed challenging herself with new colors and patterns in her designs. She also loved working in her flower gardens, pointing out and naming each flower in her garden. Later in her life, she treasured all the time spent with her sister Elaine at her condo at Ocean Isle Beach; relaxing in the sun, perusing flea markets for the best deals and enjoying the local restaurants. Mildred was an avid tennis fan, having many favorites she would cheer for over the years at tournaments broadcast on TV. Affectionately known as "Granny" to her grandchildren, Mildred enjoyed cooking and took great pride in baking her famous molasses cookies and pound cakes for those she loved. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish Mildred's memory include a son, Jim Davis (Margie); daughters, Sandy Wheeler (Keith) and Kelly Kennedy; siblings, Elaine Kiker (David) and Ken Tarlton (Ann); sister-in-law, Mary Tarlton; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Clemmons Village I for assisting our mother lovingly through her journey as well as the team at Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.

A celebration of Mildred's life will be private.  She will be inurned in the Hamilton Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery, Marshville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice for their tireless support throughout Mildred's end of life care.
