Mrs. Patsy Ruth Carpenter Helms, 92, of Marshville passed away Friday, October 23, 2026, after a 12-year battle with dementia. Born April 24, 1934, in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Wilson Carpenter and Ruth Staton Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Kenneth, and siblings, Billy Carpenter, Bert Carpenter, Ben Carpenter, Jack Carpenter, Tommy Carpenter, Jean Smith and Wanda Bradley.

Patsy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a caring person, often encouraging others through her card ministry, hosting bridal or baby showers, planning family gatherings, or preparing meals for neighbors and church family during times of sickness or death. She enjoyed sharing vegetables from the garden, a bouquet of flowers from her yard, or a cup of coffee with good conversation.

Patsy had a 30-year career in the banking industry, working at American Bank & Trust, United Carolina Bank, and BB&T.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Patsy will be at 11 AM, Monday, October 26, 2026, at Fairfield Community Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 in the church fellowship building.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Michael Helms (Ginger Jackson); daughter, Pam Lisk (Darrell); grandchildren, Heather Andrews (Scott), Hannah Bumby (Matthew), Daniel Helms, and Katherine Smith (Zane); great grandchildren, Ezra Bumby and Ansley Ruth Smith; sisters, Ann Traywick and Jane Griffin.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials made to Fairfield Community Baptist Church, 7208 Olive Branch Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
