Obituary

Monroe- Mrs. Phyllis G. Woodson, 89, passed away Saturday the 15th of June, 2019 at Novant Matthews. She was born in Butler, Tn. on June 22nd, 1929, to the late Sandy Allen and Ethel Irick Greenwell. She was retired from Prospect Elementary School where she taught 5th grade for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walter Woodson, to whom she was married over 54 years. Mrs. Woodson was a member of Wingate Baptist Church for over five decades, as well as a member of the Eastern Star, the Lions Club, TOPS, a loyal patron of the Monroe Aquatic Center, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and a tutor at Wingate Elementary. Even though she was a volunteer at many organizations, she found time to travel the world for the ministry as well as pleasure. Her compassion knew no bounds…..she was larger than life.
