Marshville – Mrs. Polly Brooks Gaddy, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at CMC-Union in Monroe after a brief illness. Born October 20, 1925, in Monroe, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Adam Brooks and Bertha Chloe Pusser Brooks. She was also preceded in death by her husband Japp, of 71 years, who passed in January 2016.
She was educated at New Salem High School and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She completed 41 years teaching in Anson and Union counties, retiring in June 1990.
She was an active member of the Alpha Delta Kappa teacher society, Union County retired teachers Association, NC retired Teachers Association and National Educators Association. She was a loyal and beloved member of Fairfield Crossroads Community Church.
She always had a love for dogs and her devotion to her constant companion, Spec.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 PM, Monday, November 28, 2016 at Olive Branch Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jimmy Tarleton with visitation following at the Olive Branch Baptist Church fellowship hall.
Her survivors include sons, Jimmy and wife Billie Ann of Cramerton, NC, Phillip and wife Donna of Peachland; daughter, Cheryl Ann of Monroe; grandchildren, Leslie Edwards of Monroe and Tyler Gaddy of Marshville, great grandchildren, Jaxson Gaddy of Marshville, Anna Claire and John Edwards of Monroe; step grandchildren, Marshall and Will LaFar of Gastonia, NC
