Obituary

Marshville – Mr. Reece Hamilton, 89, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at CMC-Union in Monroe. Born January 24, 1925 in Union County, he was a son of the late James Ray and Mary Ellen Strawn Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Athel Holmes, Geneva Helms, Jewel Thomas and brother, Charles Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He served as a Combat Infantryman in Co.A 309th Infantry Regiment of the 78th Infantry Division. He earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Ardennes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Hamilton Crossroads Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church's cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife, Audrey Hamilton; son, Randy Hamilton and his wife Lisa of Wingate; daughters, Sharon H. Davis and husband Larry of Monroe, Debra H. Smith and husband Robert of Fayetteville, NC, Lori H. Helms of Marshville; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
