Marshville - Richard "Chief" Alvarez, 61, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Emerald Island Resort in Florida. Born March 28, 1952 in El Paso, Texas, he was a son of the late Salvador Alvarez and Mary Moreno Humble. He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Lincoln. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Chief will be held Monday at 1 pm at the Freedom Biker Church, 5113 W. Hwy 74, Monroe NC, with burial to follow in the Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4-6 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home in Marshville. Chief is survived by his wife Shelia; sons, Tony Alvarez and wife Melanie and Freddy Alvarez and wife Sarah all of Pageland, SC, Richard Lee Alvarez and wife Alison of Monroe; daughters, Melinda Killough - Loudermilk and husband Brian of Waxhaw, Marie Alvarez - Spittle and husband Stewart of Monroe, Amanda Alvarez and Randell Massey of Marshville, Katy Wheeler and husband Robert of Sour Lake, TX; brothers, Salvador Alvarez of Vidor, TX and Richard Humble of Bridge City, TX; sisters, Mary Simmons of Dickinson, TX and Lupe Brucia of Neiderland, TX; 16 grandchildren, Darian and Kayla Killough, Briella and Baron Loudermilk, Logan and Lanie Duvall, Austin Spittle, Yanalyn Massey, Alivia, Kaitlyn, Memphis, Neva, Bristol and Carson Alvarez, Griffin and Maeryn Schoenfelder In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Lincoln Manning Alvarez Scholarship Fund, c/o 1st Citizens Bank - Marshville, NC.
