Robert Henry Efird, 77, graduated to join His Lord "passed away in his sleep" on Saturday, September 14, 2013 while at home. Robert was born on November 6, 1935 in New Salem, NC, son of the late Filas and Sallie Staton Efird. He was the stepson of the late Ruth Funderburk Efird. He was a devoted husband who is survived by Joyce Little Efird, wife of 55 years. He is also survived by his daughters and their families - Dasha Little and husband, Kirk and their four children Forrest, Robert, Meredith and Raleigh of Chesapeake, VA. ; and Barbara Lybrand and husband, John and their daughter Katie Lybrand of Summerville, SC. He is survived by three sisters, Anne Simpson Boardwine of Olive Branch, Ruth Helms of Monroe, and Jane Waters of Rutherfordton, NC. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister; Forrest Efird, Lloyd Efird, Ben Efird, and Ramona Griffin. He is survived by multiple nieces and nephews. Robert was a member of Marshville Presbyterian Church and commitment his life to service and relationships. He visited the sick, participated in Meals-on-Wheels, and enjoyed the Sunday afternoon "visiting" times. He enjoyed time with his family and friends. He loved playing cards with best friends the late Rayvon Griffin and Janet Griffin. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren; they were the "Apple of his Eye." He loved Duke University sports, and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed the daily fun, fellowship and food at the Marshville Adult Nutritional Center, The Hope Center. A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at Marshville Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 11am. The family will greet guests immediately following the service.
