Robert "Bob" Lee Thomas, Jr. 88 of Peachland died Friday July 12, 2013 at the Hospice House in Monroe. Born September 4, 1924 in Anson County he was a son of the late Robert Lee Thomas, Sr. and Ruth Rushing Thomas. A WW II Army Veteran, Bob enjoyed Fishing, Hunting, Gardening, (especially his roses). Many folks far and wide will remember Bob for his Martin gourds that he enjoyed growing. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Bob will be held Monday at 2 PM from the New Home Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4-6 pm at Morgan & Son Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife Louise of the home; sons, Ronald Thomas of Mint Hill and Randy Thomas and his wife Ann of Peachland; daughter, Ann Walters and her husband Lynn of Peachland: sisters, Betty Austin of Baltimore, MD and Melda Trexler of Wadesboro; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Hyatt, Amanda Helms and Shane Walters; great - grandchildren, Summer, Conner, CJ, Colin, Grace and Logan. The family suggests memorials to the Hospice of Union County.
