Wingate - Mr. Robert Ronald 'Ron" Edwards, 73, passed away after a long illness Friday, October 29, 2021 at Hospice House in Monroe.  Born July 21, 1948 in Union County, NC he was a son of the late Robert "Bob" Edwards and Bernice Tarlton Edwards. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Lynn Edwards and brothers, Johnny Lane Edwards and Dana Ray Edwards.

Ron was a very caring and loving husband all the years before his illness.  If anyone needed anything, he always wanted to help.  He was a great father or dad to his son Steven; He was always there for his son's ballgames or any activities he was involved in. He tried to give advice at every turn to the best of his ability.

A funeral to celebrate the life of Ron will be 2 PM Monday, November 1, 2021 by the graveside of Austin Grove Baptist Church with military honors.  If you would like to pay respects, a drop in will be Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 3-5 PM at Morgan and Son Funeral Home, family will not be present.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Doris Lynn Phifer Edwards; son, Steven Glenn Edwards; sister-in-law, Velma Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Atrium Health – Union. Especially to Dr. Lindsey Johnson for her love, caring, and compassion shown during his time at the hospital and years at her office

A big thank you to Wingate Fire Department and EMS for their many trips helping us these past years.  Mr. Edwards worked for ATI-Teledyne Allvac over 30 years till his retirement.  He served in the US Army – Vietnam 1969-1970.  We would like thank the support of family, friends and everyone who helped during the last few years.
