Obituary

Ronald Robert Horne - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ronald Robert Horne, who left his temporary earthly home on May 24, 2024, at the age of 61, and entered the gates of heaven.

Born on January 6, 1963, Ronald's childhood was full of as much mischief and excitement as he could create alongside (and sometimes at the expense of) his four siblings. He met the love of his life in his high school sweetheart, Jackie, and married on July 31, 1982.

Ronald lived life to the fullest, pursuing passions that brought him immense joy. He enjoyed four-wheeler racing and was a talented musician. He loved being outdoors fishing, boating, hunting, riding his Kubota and working on his farm. Ronald's greatest pride, however, was his family. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, teaching them and imparting his wisdom.

Ronald's good humor, infectious bigger-than-life smile and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He never let life's obstacles deter him from enjoying the many blessings God offered him in this life. His infectious laughter and positive outlook on life were a testament to his resilient character.

Ronald is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 42 years, Jackie Carpenter Horne; his loving children, Matthew Robert Horne and his wife Kaila, and Kristen Horne Hendrick and her husband Blair; and his treasured grandchildren, Tucker, Thomas, and Tanner Horne, and Heidi and Harrison Hendrick. He also leaves behind his parents, James Robert and Frances Sossoman Horne, and his siblings, Deborah Cox and her husband Bob, Donna Cohl and her husband Gary, Randy Horne and his wife Iris, and Dianne Marion.

His legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will forever be remembered and cherished by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Ronald grew up attending First Baptist Church Marshville where he previously served as a deacon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church's Faith for Generations project, (1636 Old Hwy 74, Marshville, NC  28103), so that the community's future generation of children will have a place to come to know Christ, just as he did.

His heart may have "played its final beat" but his legacy will live on.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 27, 2024, from 3-3:45 at First Baptist Church Marshville with the celebration of life at 4 PM.  The burial will follow at Peachland City Cemetery.

Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the Horne family.
