Roy J. Chaney 78, passed away July 19, 2016 at Hospice House of Union County. He was born in Union County on February the 12th, 1938 to the late Benjamin Clinton and Nancy Meggs Chaney. Roy was employed with Yale Lock, a former Law Enforcement Officer, an Auctioneer, owner of Roy Chaney's Grocery, Realtor, and a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service.
Graveside Services will be 11am Saturday at Edwards Family Cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 am at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.
He is survived by his son Ronnie Chaney and his wife Lisa of Mt. Pleasant, NC. Two daughters: Nancy C. Helms and her husband Phil of Marshville, and Susan C. Yow and her husband Van of Stanfield. One brother; Mr. Robert Chaney and his wife Kay of Oakboro, and two sisters: Flossie Tucker and her husband Coit of Monroe, and Joyce Hatley and husband Jerry of Albemarle. His grandchildren: Elisha Cooper, Tamara Freeman, Cameron Chaney, Cayla Chaney, Amanda Helms, Marcia Stegall, Daniel Yow, and Kaitlyn Yow.
