Roy Gene Hipple, 79, passed away January 11, 2015, at home in Marshville, NC. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Anne Rice Hipple, daughter, Laura Hipple Vazquez, son-in-law, Hector Louis Vazquez, grandson, Zachary Louis Vazquez, and granddaughter, Alicia Christine Vazquez, of Indian Trail, NC.

Roy was born August 29, 1935, in Marysville, PA, and lived in numerous places. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Roy Blaine Hipple and Eleanor Elizabeth Cash Hipple, both originally from Pennsylvania.

Roy served in the US Marine Corps from 1955-1959, and graduated with an Electronic Engineering degree from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana in 1961. He worked in Chapel Hill, NC for over thirty years as an Engineer in the field of Environmental studies. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed farming and gardening.

The family will receive friends at Morgan & Son Funeral Home at 218 E. Main Street, Marshville, NC on Thursday, January 15th, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union Symphony Youth Orchestra, at www.usyo.org/support
