Obituary

Roy Mason Taylor, born March 6, 1940, in Anson County, passed away on June 2, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Agnes Ferree Taylor of Anson County, and siblings, Dot Taylor Smith (Melvin) of Oakboro; Betty Taylor Griffin (Bill) of Ansonville; John Taylor (Pat) of Hamlet; Billy Taylor (Ronel) of Oakboro; Peggy Taylor Kiker (Bill) of Polkton; Coy Taylor of Hamlet; and Donald Taylor (Anita) of Parkwood.

During his 85 years, Roy loved playing golf, flying the Ultralight plane he built from a kit, watching NASCAR, and following the Charlotte Panthers and Duke Blue Devils basketball. Most precious of all were his faith, Dee Dee and her family, his pride in his service in the United States Army as a paramedic with the 82nd Airborne division, his years of worship at Marshville United Methodist Church, and his years of employment in the picture framing industry. Roy saw the best in his fellow man and quietly assisted people with whom he came in contact.

Those left to cherish his memory include Doris, his wife of 56 years, and their daughter and her family, Dee Dee Taylor Vogt (Richard), Sarah and David of Cary. He is also survived by a large extended family of Taylors and Kikers. He also will be missed by his breakfast club at The Pier Restaurant, members of HASOB's group, and the close-knit members of the Marshville Social Club.

A funeral to celebrate Roy's life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:45 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County at 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110 or Marshville United Methodist Church at 310 Ross St, Marshville, NC 28103 in honor of the outstanding labors of love provided during Roy's end of life.
