Obituary

Mrs. Ruby Sheppard Deese, 94, of Peachland passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Atrium Health – Anson.  Born January 9, 1927 in Anson County, she was a daughter of the late Brady and Lessie Braswell Sheppard.  She was also preceded in death by husband Douglas, sister Edna, daughter-in-law, Margaret, granddaughter, Traci and a son-in-law, Carter.

Mama left her old home in Peachland and entered her new home in Heaven on Tuesday morning.  Mama lived a Christian life and taught her family to live each day as if it were their last.  She always said you can go in the blink of an eye and she did just that.

Mama read her Bible daily and was a loyal member of her church. After a decline in health, she faithfully followed her favorite TV ministers.  This was her special time and if you called her, it had better be an emergency.

She loved her children, her grandchildren and her great-grands, in fact, Mama loved everyone.  Many knew her as Grandma Ruby, and she was famous for her fried apple pies.

An excellent seamstress, she sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren as well as many members of her community.  She could make patterns from newspapers and could make anything from curtains to wedding gowns.  Numerous family pictures showcase Mom's talent with a needle and thread.

Mama was blessed to share many years with her family and friends.  A host of family members and dear friends were at the gate to welcome her home and she will be there for each of us on our appointed day.

Mom's request for all would be to love God and one another and pray for our nation.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruby will be 2 PM Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Peachland Gospel Tabernacle with burial to follow in the Peachland City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ruby is survived by children, Brenda (Ronnie), Kirby, Marlene (Roger) and Gail (Jimmy); grandchildren, Amy, Lori (Kenny), Kevin (Morgan), Ashley (Justin), Josh (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Evan, Kacey, Hadley, Jackson, Bailey and Evie; sister, Virginia.

The family suggests memorials made to Lanes Creek Baptist Church, 118 Marshville Waterplant Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
