Mrs. Ruth Brewer Helms, 93, of Marshville, NC passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born August 6, 1930, in Union County, she was a daughter of the late H. Jackson and Flora A. Brewer. She was also preceded in death by husbands, James Hartsell and Melvin Helms, siblings, Loyd Brewer, Damon Brewer, Doris Brewer Upchurch and Ben Brewer.

Mrs. Helms was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed the simplicity of life and caring for family and her home.  She was proud of the accomplishments of her family.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be 10 am, Friday July 19, 2024, at Mount Moriah Methodist Church in New Salem, NC with Rev. Alan DiDio officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church's fellowship building.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Gwen Jones (Steve), Cindy Hayes (Mike); grandchildren, Josh Jones (Nicole), Erin Rushing (Brock) and Micaela Hayes (Scott); great-grandchildren, Shepherd and Sullivan Rushing.
