Scott
Rowell
Dec 7, 1955 — Jan 6, 2021
Henry Scott Rowell
12/7/1955 -1/6/2021 (65)
Scott Rowell went peacefully into the arms of Jesus at 9:05 pm on Wednesday January 6, 2021 while a patient at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews after a long hard fight with COVID-19. Since Scott's wife Tina had contracted COVID-19 also, she was allowed to be with him on that day and was holding his hand when he drew his last breath. They were always together, and that day was no exception.
Scott had a servant's heart which showed by the professions that he had chosen in life. Scott currently worked as the Director of the Anson County Transportation System and numerous years for Union County as a Paramedic. Scott went to work every day during this pandemic even though he knew COVID would probably take his life due to his own health issues so that he could ensure that the citizens of Anson County were taken care of with necessary transportation services that for some are life sustaining. Scott was a faithful member of Brown Creek Baptist Church where he used his beautiful voice to lead the music and sing in the choir. He also served on the Deacon Board for many years also serving as the Chairman on the Deacon Board several times. He loved his church and always helped whenever called upon. Scott, Tina and their grandson Conner attended Sunday and Wednesday night services faithfully every week. Scott was a man of few words who did not always show his emotions, but his wife will tell you he was very tender hearted and when he laughed it rang throughout their home. Scott had decided to work one more year for the county before retiring and as he stated it "he would then go fishing every day on his boat at the lake" but we know God had another plan for him. He is now serving God in heaven.
Scott was born on December 7, 1955 in Charlotte NC to Henry Samuel and Valdorena Byrd Rowell. He was the oldest of five children. Scott graduated from Lumberton Senior High in 1974. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Phillip and Ken Rowell.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife and best friend Tina Steele Rowell, daughters Holly Thurman (fiancée Mark) and grandson Conner Thurman of Polkton NC, Jessica (Tim) Wheaton and granddaughter Sydney of Zebulon NC and Amber (Mitch) Funderburk and granddaughter Kenlynn and grandson Gatlin of Pageland SC, sons Christopher Rowell of Monroe NC and Brandon Rowell of Laurinburg NC sisters, Annette (Carson) Hilburn of Lumberton NC and Becky (Dave) Porter of Round Hill VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tina wishes to express her sincere thanks to everyone for their continuous prayers for Scott and herself during this time. Her heart is broken from the loss of her precious love and very best friend. She wants everyone to love and care for their family and to make sure that you tell them and show them that you love them every day because you never know which day will be your last together. Thirteen years of marriage was not nearly enough.
A service to honor Scott will be held at a later date due to Tina still recovering from COVID-19.
