Obituary

Mr. Stancil Gradon Pope, 85 of Marshville, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Atrium Health – Pineville.  Born December 9, 1939, in Union County, he was the son of the late Stanley Paul Pope and Mildred Sikes Pope. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Cecil Calvin Pope and Paul Travis Pope.

His high school motto was "I will live until I die".

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Stancil will be 11 AM, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Lawyers Springs Primitive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Horne Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 25 years today, Candace "Candy" Pope, children, Mary Lynne Murray (Frank), Tony Jarrod Pope (Dana McRorie) and Jeremy Michael Crantek (April Powell); grandchildren, Meghann Rebecca Belk (Dustin), Tori Savannah Pope, Riley MaKenzi Pope, Annie Rose Crantek; great grandchildren, Gunner and Canton Belk; sister, Millie Pope Hudson; sister-in-law, Cecil's wife, Evelyn Pope; his first wife, Mary "Charlotte"Meggs; special friend, Michelle Elizabeth Phifer.

Memorials can be made to the Lawyer Springs Primitive Baptist Church, 45 Upper White Store Road, Peachland, NC  28133.

Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Pope.
