Mrs. Susie Mullis Smith, 83, formerly of Marshville, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at her daughter's home in Mocksville, NC. Born September 2, 1934 in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Silas and Lettie Mullis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Coy Muckle Smith, daughter, Gwendolyn Smith Staton, son, Jeffery Lynn Smith, and infant son, Gregory Scott Smith, son-in-law, Carroll Staton, grandson, Randy Smith, and siblings, Virginia Love, Rufus Mullis, Oscar Mullis (Bill), Bessie High, Doris Brooks, Lee Dale Edwards, Betty Jo Kiker, Edsel Mullis and Ralph Mullis.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Susie will be 2pm Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Longs Grove Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Monroe. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Bill Smith and his wife Debra of Marshville; daughters, Malia Cornelius and her husband Cody of Mocksville, and Michele Spillman and her husband Richard also of Mocksville, daughter-in-law, Wanda Thomas Staton of Marshville, and daughter-in-law Ann Kiker Smith of Monroe; grandchildren are John Staton, Tracy Griffin, Tommy Staton, Caty Smith, Paul Smith, Mary Mikeska, Lauren Osmond, Amanda Osmond, Jennifer Spillman, Laura Spillman, and Michael Spillman; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Longs Grove Advent Christian Church cemetery fund or Mountain Valley Hospice.
