Monroe – Mrs. Sybil Porter Austin, 83 passed away Tuesday at Atrium Hospice House in Monroe.  Born June 19, 1942, in Anson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Haywood Porter and Macie Hinson Helms.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Iven Austin and a daughter, Wendy Elaine Sikes.

She loved gardening, especially her flowers.  She loved to sing, laugh, dance and have fun.  She loved people.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sybil will be 11 AM, Thursday, February 5, 2026, from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family has decided to not have a visitation.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Meagan Dellinger (Johnny), Becky Austin Hickey (Mike); granddaughters, Chloe Bryant and Cheyanne Drye; grandsons, Jordan Sikes and Jamie Woodell.
