Marshville – Mrs. Sylvia Gibson Hargett, 83, of Marshville passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at Atrium Health – Union in Monroe. Born September 29, 1936 in Mecklenburg County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Gibson and Ethel Gibson. She was also preceded in death by brother, Thomas Gibson, Jr.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Sylvia will be held 11 AM, Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 10- 10:45 at Bethel Baptist Church Fellowship building.
Mrs. Hargett is survived by her husband of 65 years, William "Max" Hargett of the home; daughter: Robin Denise Hargett and her fiance' Kenny Baucom; son, Mitch Hargett and his wife, Pat; brother; Buck Gibson; sister, Mardell Gibson Price; grandchildren, Jeff Sherrin, Kristine Stroud, Matt Witmore and Jeromy Witmore; great-grandchildren, Makenzi Sherrin, Astrid Sherrin, Conor Stroud, Murphy Stroud and Sammy Witmore; many nieces and nephews.
