Marshville – Mr. William Ted Hargett, 84, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his home. Born August 12, 1933 in Union County, he was a son of the late Charlie Boyce Hargett and Floy Rorie Hargett. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Mary Hargett and a brother, Ralph Hargett.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 am from the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Hargett is survived by his wife Jean Helms Hargett of the home; sons, Greg Hargett and his wife Gina of Marshville and Jimmy Hargett of Marshville; daughters, Beverly H. Edwards and her husband Mike of Peachland and Carrie H. Prelipp and her husband Paul of Rockingham; grandchildren, Betsy Cox (Michael), David Edwards (Caty), Greg T. Hargett (Whitley), Hilary Huguelet (Gil), Julie and Austin Hargett, Garrett and Anna Prelipp and great grandchildren, Cameron and Case Cox, Bailey, Beau, and Boone Hargett, Greinlea Huguelet, Nora and Eve Edwards; sister, Nell Bess of Marshville; step children, Ward Deese (Penny), Sandra Davis (Jerry) and Maurice Deese; step grandchildren, Penelope McClenny (Justin), Zach Deese (Leah), Olivia Gathings (Lucas), Zeb Davis; step great grandchildren, Gus and Bo McClenny.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 East Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
