Mr. Tim (Big Tim) Carpenter, 73, died Tuesday morning at his home in Norwood. Born October 28, 1942 in Wilmington, NC, he was a son of the late Lewis and Nellie Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Thursday at Peachland Baptist Church with burial to follow in Peachland City Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday evening at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

"Big Tim" married the love of his life Joyce on January 10, 1964 and with her they founded Professional Pipe, Inc. Together they operated it until his retirement 43 years later. "Big Tim", with his family at his side, was the Mayor of Peachland for 16 years. He was an avid softball player, fisherman, deer hunter and golfer. Tim served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve and served his Lord as a member of Peachland Baptist Church since November 5, 1989.

Above all things, Big Tim was the best Husband, Daddy, Papa, Brother and Friend!

Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife Joyce of Peachland; son, Tim L. Carpenter and his wife Kristin Boles Carpenter of Peachland; daughters, Connie Tyson and her husband John, Ginger Nance and her husband Jeff all of Norwood; sister, Shirley Carpenter Nance of Norwood; 9 grandchildren, Savannah Tyson, Kattie Tyson, Claudia Tyson, Rachel Nance, Hunter Nance, Dillon Nance, Georgia Nance, Brittany Carpenter and Timothy Carpenter, Jr.; niece, Kathy Preslar;cousin and lifelong friend, Sonny Carpenter.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Big Tim's caregivers and friends: Sarah Burr, Ellen Gaddy, Hospice of Stanly County and Bayada Home Health Care nurses.
