Obituary

Mr. Tommy Alexander, 69, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at his home.  Born February 28, 1955, in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late William Alexander and Maxine Helms Alexander.

Tommy courageously battled cancer with a strong faith in Jesus Christ and a positive attitude for six years. Dr. Gregory Brouse and his amazing staff became like family and took inspiration from Tommy's humor, strength, and straight-talk.

Tommy was a father to many even though he had no children of his own. He loved and supported his three nieces – Michelle, Kristie, and Tanya – his great niece Maggie, and his namesake great nephew, Thomas. He also raised three generations of Tommy Girls including Haily, Haven, Jennifer, Amanda, Debbie, and dozens more.

Tommy was a lifetime member and great supporter of New Home Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, a classic-car enthusiast, an artist and craftsman, and a fair-minded businessman. He worked as Plant Manager for WUL-Zenco where he considered all employees as family. After his career in textiles, he opened Cherished Frameworks where he thoughtfully crafted each item to perfection.

He loved rollerskating, softball, snow skiing, and Trivial Pursuit. He could confidently answer any question, whether or not he knew the answer. He was a super supporter of the Anson Bearcats softball team.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.  A funeral service to celebrate Tommy's life will be 3 PM Saturday, August 17, 2024, at New Home Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Polly Floyd Alexander; his sister-in-law Gladys Taylor, his brother-in-law Dwight Floyd and his wife, Dianne, his nieces, nephews, and the Tommy Kids. He was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother, Bobby Raymond.

Memorials can be made to New Home Baptist Church Missions, PO Box 72, Marshville, NC  28103.
