Charlotte – On Thursday, May 20th, 2021, Trudy Freesland Doster, loving wife and mother passed away.

Trudy was born to the late William Oscar Freesland and Ellie Benton Freesland.  She grew up in Marshville, NC and graduated from Wingate College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  After graduating, Trudy taught history in Union county high schools for 13 years. On April 16th, 1983, she married Thomas Reginald Doster. They raised two sons, Timothy Ryan Doster and Joshua Alan Doster.

Trudy had many passions.  Her greatest love and source of pride was her family.  She loved her large extended family.  Always the teacher, Trudy was quick to encourage young folks to work hard in school and was always proud of their accomplishments.  Trudy loved history and was an avid collector of American antiques.  She loved nature, especially flowers and earned her Master Gardener designation through NC State Extension. Always patriotic, she taught herself to play "God Bless the USA" on the piano late in life.  She was warm and loving but had a quick temper when appropriate.

She is survived by her husband, her two sons, Tim's wife, Olivia Reeves Doster, and their children, Trenten and Corinne.

A funeral service to celebrate Trudy's life will be held at11 AM, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends after the service by the grave.

During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds, so they welcome you to stop by the funeral home on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 1 pm until 3:30 pm to pay your respects.  The family will not be present.
