Marshville – Mr. Atlas Vann Edwards, 82, passed away Thursday evening at Autumn Care Nursing Home surrounded by family.  Born October 20, 1943, in Union County, he was the son of the late James Wriston Edwards and Wilma Mae Griffin Edwards.  He was also preceded in death by siblings, Pete Edwards (Lib), Jerry Edwards and Doris McWhorter (Mickey), sister-in- law, Pat Edwards and brothers-in-law, Bradford Baucom and Keith Thomas.

Vann was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where he served on numerous leadership roles.  He loved his Lord and Savior.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  His hard work ethic was evident from an early age.  He was a turkey and cattle farmer for over 50 years. He loved his family and spending time with them. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Vann will be Sunday at 3 PM from the Union Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2 – 2:45 in the church fellowship area.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Meggs Edwards; son, Jarrod Edwards (Kerri), daughter, Kyra Baker (Keith); grandchildren, Katelyn Wright (Jonathan), Chett Baker (Mckayla), Meghanne Hall (Daniel), Britton Baker (Erin) and Kelsey Baker; great grandson, Colter Atlas Baker; siblings, Virgie Baucom, Ruby Baucom (Rommie), Max Edwards and Judy Thomas; Jerry's wife, Gail Edwards.
