Obituary

Monroe – Mrs. Velma Nance Freeman, 92, passed away Wednesday at the Hospice House in Monroe.  Born March 29, 1928 in Union County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John David and Mary Ester Edwards Nance.  She was also preceded in death by her husband John, Sr. in 1994 and 13 siblings.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Velma will be held on Friday.  Due to Covid 19, the services will be family attended only.  Burial will be at New Home Baptist Church beside her husband, Johnny.

Survivors include son, John Freeman (Judy) of Mint Hill, NC; daughter, Susan F. Threatt (Steve) of Monroe; grandchildren, Sara Freeman Thomas, Joey Rudick and Brian Rudick, Stevie Nicole Threatt and Joshua Cody Threatt; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice House-Monroe for their kindness and caring during moms stay.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or To New Home Baptist Church.
