Wingate- Mrs. Vera S. Godwin 78, passed away February the 18th, 2015 at her residence. She is the daughter of the late Homer and Madge Preslar Helms. She was born on October the 10th, 1936 in Union County. She was preceded in death by her first husband Mr. Joe Simpson and one sister Mrs. Betty Mills.
Funeral Services will be 2pm Saturday the 21st of February, 2015 at Austin Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be in the Fellowship Hall one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband Mr. Vann Godwin. One son Mr. Raeford Simpson and his wife Alicia of Star, NC. Two daughters: Mrs. Karen Knight and her husband Michael of Marshville and Suzanne Simpson of Wingate. Three brothers: Clinton Helms and his wife Helen of Locust, Johnny Helms of Norwood, and Donald Ray Helms and his wife Margaret of Wingate. Four grandchildren: Brandon Knight, Jeremy Knight. Dana Simpson, and Deidra Bunn.
