Mr. Vernon Eaker Thornsbury, 81, passed away Friday at CHS-Union. Born December 7, 1936 in Pike county, KY he was a son of the late James and Vertie Thornsbury. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Linda Scott, step son, James Sims and numerous siblings. He loved his family, church and selling furniture.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Vernon will be held 11 AM Monday from the Austin Grove Baptist Church will burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday Evening from 4-6 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Thornsbury is survived by his wife Elaine of the home; son, Gene Thornsbury of GA,; daughters, Sherry McCain of Matthews and Teresa Thomas of Peachland; stepsons, Lewis Sims of Marshville, Brian Sims of Myrtle Beach, SC, Randy Sims of Peachland and Robert Sims of Rock Hill, SC; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister, Sue Johnson of Michigan.
The family suggests memorials made to the Union County Community Shelter, 311 E. Jefferson Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
