Obituary

Vivian Traywick Harris of Fort Mill, South Carolina, died on May 3, 2026, at Hospice House in Monroe after a long illness.  She was born February 21, 1941, in Anson County, North Carolina to Joe Heath and Geraldine Edwards Traywick. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Parker G. Harris.

Vivian is survived by her brother Sherrill Heath Traywick (Ruby); sister, Dianne Cape (Murry); brother, Randy Gerald Traywick (Debbie); stepdaughter, Pam Morris.  She also has 6 nieces and nephews, Shelley Traywick, Lorie Rollins (Jerry), Brian Traywick (Blaire), Eric Traywick (Marleen), Heath Traywick (Samatha) and Cody Traywick.

She received her Associates of Arts Degree from Wingate University, her Bachelor of Science from East Carolina University, and her Master of Science from Winthrop University.  She spent 33 years at WBTV in Charlotte as a writer-producer and an on-air personality.  She won numerous local, regional, state and national awards.

Vivian had a strong and outgoing personality.  She loved growing up on a farm and being an active member of New Home Baptist Church where she is still a member.  She loved to talk and never met a stranger.  Her passions were her family and her beloved German Shepherds.  She was an avid water skier and loved teaching her nieces and nephews how to ski.

Since she was a very little girl, she loved pretty clothes, especially shoes.  She was an expert seamstress by the age of 14.  From designer suits to evening gowns, she made hundreds of garments for herself and family members of all ages. She loved her house in the woods, decorating and filling it with various personal art projects and paintings.

Vivian enjoyed a busy, happy, and blessed life planned and guided by God.  Her communication with God was constant with lots of "please, thank you, and sorry".

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Vivian will be 4 PM, Friday, May 8, 2026, from New Home Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday from 3-3:45 in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, it was Vivian's wish that gifts be made to New Home Baptist Church or to Furever Angels Animal Rescue of Charlotte, via their web site, furever_angels@yahoo.com.

"Grief never ends….but it changes.  It's a passage. Not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor lack of faith.  It is the price of love." (Author Unknown)
