Mr. Walter Vachel Carnes, 86, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Atrium Health - Union.  Born on April 10, 1939, in Union County, NC, he was a son of the late Theron Carnes and Jennie Broom Carnes. He was also preceded in death by his wife Ella Jeannne "Jean" Farris Carnes and two sons, Walter Vachel Carnes Jr. and David Lane Carnes.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Walter will be 11 AM, Thursday, June 5, 2025, from the Marshville City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service by the grave.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter Susan Michelle Carnes and her daughter Kristen.
