In The Beginning

Morgan and Son Funeral Home was established in August of 1963 by R.L. "Robert L" Morgan Sr. and his wife, Flossie. Robert L. was one of the first licensed morticians in the state of North Carolina. He was committed to providing exceptional funeral care; however, a lack of that service was present in his area. He and his wife were concerned that there were no funeral homes to assist Eastern Union and Western Anson County communities, so they provided the service.

With a strong attachment to their community, Robert L. and Flossie founded the funeral home on standards of impeccable care and unmatched service that has continued into our 5th decade of operation.

The tradition of family service continued when R.L. Morgan Jr. and his wife, Dr. Virginia D. Morgan, took over management and ownership of the business from R.L. Morgan Sr.. R.L. Morgan Jr. and Ginny managed the funeral home for over 20 years with the same commitment to the families of Eastern Union and Western Anson County. After R.L. and Ginny's retirement, Bob Morgan III continued on as manager of the family business until december 31, 2019 after life-long of service. He is currently a consultant for the funeral home.

Philip & Ann Tillman purchased the funeral home from the Morgan Family in January 2020. Philip has been a part of the team for 16 years. He manages the funeral home at present and will continue the legacy of care to client families that Morgan & Son Funeral Home has given since 1963.
